"In "We Have Everything Before Us," Eleanor is bored with her two sons and a husband who ignores her. She begins an online conversation with Phil, a man she knew in high school. Phil is a small business owner whose wife, Linda, is leaving him because of his philandering. When Phil invites Eleanor to a club to hear his daughter sing, Eleanor brings a close friend, Kaye. Phil's almost ex and her mother show up. Kaye tells everyone that she is a vice cop. She is not. Kaye doesn't approve of Phil, but she has her own problems: drinking to medicate herself and a tense relationship with her teen daughter. Meanwhile, Linda, who thinks nothing of contacting Phil's girlfriends, emails his last paramour, Sarayu, to tell her that the marriage is over. Sarayu and Phil's relationship picks up again just as things climax (or don't) between Phil and Eleanor in a scene on the garage floor. Kaye discovers that her daughter, Clara has put her room up for rent on Craigslist. She confronts Clara, they argue, and Clara walks out. There is a summer storm. With their sons, and Annie the dog, Eleanor and Frank hunker down in the basement. Phil argues with Linda. He arrives at Sarayu's apartment just as the storm is sweeping through the north side of Chicago. In the end, three intelligent women must decide how to move forward. Sarayu begins to appreciate her life alone. Eleanor hears from Linda one last time. And Kaye takes a packed suitcase hidden in the back of her closet, calls a cab, and goes to the airport.
