Oliver Queen thought he had it all figured out. As the heroic archer Green Arrow, he'd finally found a sense of purpose, friends to aid him, even a place on the Justice League of America. But now, he's not even sure where he came fromâ?¦or who he came from. As Green Arrow discovers that his stranding on a desert island was more than just an accident, there seem to be more sinister forces at work behind all these sudden revelations. The Queen family is embroiled in a war, generations old. A war of clans. A war of outside… (more)

Has some good twists and turns, though I am starting to get a bit tired of these secret societies being revisited into every superhero' backstory. ( )

I do understand the weapon clans stuff a little bit better because between reading Vol. 4 and this 5th Green Arrow Volume I read the first volume of Katana’s title (who’s also in this TPB). But, it still feels like it’s just too grand a story for Green Arrow. What I always liked about Green Arrow was that his stories were so much more down to earth. He was even more city (and family) first, rest of the world second than Batman.

And honestly that was the one thing that saved this TPB for me. Even though it was a grand big story, there was Shado and her daughter, and that almost grounded the story a little bit in family. And then there was a big surprise (or two) as well when Ollie and Shado went back to the island.

There was also Diggle. And while I liked the character (in the stories from six years ago as well as the current time ones) it’s a little disconcerting to have him in the comics. It’s like TV show bleed through or something.

I got this advanced galley through Netgalley on behalf of DC Entertainment ( )
