An upbeat, empowering, important audiobook from the team that created the award-winning Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut I am a nonstop ball of energy. Powerful and full of light. I am a go-getter. A difference maker. A leader. The confident Black narrator of this book is proud of everything that makes him who he is. He's got big plans, and no doubt he'll see them through--as he's creative, adventurous, smart, funny, and a good friend. Sometimes he falls, but he always gets back up. There are superheroes in our midst!… (more)

Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss. ( )

This book is a positive affirmation that shows children that they are valuable and worthy of love. While color is not mentioned in the book, the pages are full of stunning illustrations depicting mostly African American young men. This book is similar to Black Girl Rising, in that it allows BIPOC students to see a book with images of children who look like them with an empowering message. I absolutely love the similes and metaphors used in this book. This book has won several awards and honors.

Illustrations and easy-to-read text pay homage to the strength, character, and worth of a child.
