2299. The German Poets of the First World War, by Patrick Bridgwater (read 8 Jun 1990) I found this book scarcely readable. All the German poems quoted were also translated, but with no attempt to make poems of them. The language is coarse and brutal. I read the book as fast as I could so I'd be done reading it. ( )
