Loved this story when it first came out - loved it so much I lent out my book and never got it back! Finally a story for Troi that uses her strengths and one that wrestles with ideas of spirituality and embracing the things in oneself that one fears. It's a break from the usual formula - if you're looking for space battles, skip this one - but the character work, both for our crew and for the characters specifically in this novel, is superb ( )
A "Deanna has a real job" book, and one unusually focused on religion. I didn't think it was terribly well written, but I did enjoy the attempt to address religion within the federation as a whole.
This book is lovingly dedicated to the regular Saturday Night Irregulars - or the irregular Saturday Night Regulars - to Donna, Jim, David, Lori, Dan, Del, Scott, Elayn, Liaz, Bob and Clarita. It's always great fun
