Like Volume 1 (ISBN 0-89464-590-0), which covered the eastern area, it contains a chapter on every species, with information on environment, preferred foods and feeding tricks, and the problems unique to each. Also included are chapters on the most popular pet species of North America, such as the two boas, six king snakes and the rarer rat snakes. The general care section has been expanded to include new drug charts, temperature charts, a deworming chart and even more advice on feeding.
