I really like this book because of the main idea it shows the audience which is to just be themselves and everything will work out fine. In the book Tacky and his companions receive word that the emperor is coming the next day. His companions immediately get to work preparing fish flavored food, rehearsing entertainment, and decorating a throne for him to sit in. Tacky was in charge of balloons and he blew one up so big that he rose up in the air and when it popped he unknowingly crashed into the emperor's iceberg. The emperor was dreading his visit because he was tired of the fish flavored food, decorated thrones, and over rehearsed entertainment. He decided to take a swim and Tacky found the emperor's clothing and wore it home thinking it would impress the emperor. When Tacky arrived back home his companions thought he was the emperor and gave him all of the special treatment. It wasn't until the emperor came that they realized it was just Tacky and the companions panicked thinking of things to impress the emperor. Tacky gave the emperor a snowball, made him a balloon hat, and gave him a performance that consisted of a wild dance and sang his favorite song 'How Many Toes Does a Fish Have?' The emperor loved it all and and was so relieved that this visit wasn't like every single other visit he had been on. I think the companion characters in this book are very believable because when someone important comes for a visit in real life, people feel the need to make things very special and be their best selves. I think the writing was paced very well and none of the events happened too slowly and they also weren't rushed over. Overall, I think this is a very good book to show people that it's okay to be yourself. no reviews | add a review
