Glenn Kehr was feeling rather lonely and restless that autumn. For one thing, he’d just packed his kid brother, Gregg, off to college. It was Gregg’s first semester, and, for all practical purposes, the first time he'd ever been away from home. The brothers had always been close. Their parents were dead, and Glenn had raised Gregg, so that at times he felt more like a father than a brother to him.
Glenn had also started a new job, and, although it was going pretty well so far, it had made it necessary for him to move to a small, sleepy town in upstate New York, where absolutely nothing seemed to happen. They might as well have rolled up the sidewalks at dusk!
