Most famous as the creator of the comic duo, Archie and Mehitabel, Marque had other solid columns, and short pieces to his credit. His place in American Literature of the twentieth Century is assured. This is quite a pleasant read, even today. ( ) Don Marquis wrote much more than "archy and mehitabel", but that was his best and best-known work. That is included here, along with his "The Old Soak" stories lampooning Prohibition, a selection of short stories, a few of which are surprisingly serious and well-done efforts, selections from "Hermione and Her Little Group of Serious Thinkers", and some serious and humorous poetry. The humorous stuff is better. no reviews | add a review
