This historical romance was interesting enough to finish but the interaction between characters was rather juvenile. About halfway I started skimming all but dialogue. Charlotte's brother brings Shaun, a friend from Harvard, to their simple country home in Vermont for the holidays.

From BackCover:
Every True Heart…
Charlotte Bass may be a simple country girl, but she doesn't plan to have her heart broken twice by the same man. A Christmas ago, she'd fallen for the sophisticated city ways of Shaun Matheson, hoping to become his wife. But that was before he abruptly left town for Boston and his rich, city-girl fiancée. Now, Shaun has come back to the small town of Peacham, Vermont, and Charlotte intends to let him see that she's completely forgotten him by becoming engaged to another man.

…Deserves A Second Chance
Shaun could never explain the reasons that drove him from Charlotte's side. If only he'd defied his disapproving father, Charlotte would not be marrying the only bachelor left in town, a boor who doesn't deserve her. Can Shaun allow Charlotte to spend the rest of her life with a man she despises? It will take a Christmas miracle to stop her from going through with it…and some old-fashioned courting to win her heart again—only this time, Shaun knows it will be for keeps. ( )
