At this moment, I am watching Episode 4: "New World Rising". The ways in which this story deviates from the stories told by mainstream scholars are innumerable. For the latter when it comes to the Comanche, see e.g. _War of a Thousand Deserts: Indian Raids and the U.S-Mexican War_ by Brian DeLay, and _The Comanche Empire_ by Pekka Hämäläinen. Both are published by Yale University Press, and each has won multiple awards.

"New World Rising" claims that the Rio Grande Gorge in New Mexico is the ancestral home of the Comanche. Mainstream scholars claim that the Comanche are an offshoot of the Shoshone who were in Wyoming and the Northern plains when Europeans arrived in the Americas, and that the Comanche migrated south to have their first contact with Europeans at Taos around 1700.

The Comanches share the stage in this episode with the Aztecs. That those two nations would be the focus yet there would be not so much as a hint that they practiced violence against other native peoples is surprising. ( )
