I really enjoyed this book. It was light, quick and kept me listening. ( )
Skipped a chapter, but overall, not bad. I’ll be reading more of Kova’s books.
A surprising new favorite.
I have had this in my library for months, pushing it aside for other books before finally giving in. I’m SO glad I did. Reminiscent of ACOTAR, I found so much joy and action in this book and will definitely be recommending it to everyone I know.
I put off reading this for months because it looked like it would be stupid. But then I saw other readers give it 5 stars and decided to give it a try. It wasn't interesting or very original. I probably wouldn't have finished it if I wasn't on vacation.

An enjoyable fantasy read. 3.5 stars, rounded to 4.
"Three thousand years ago, humans were hunted by powerful races with wild magic until the treaty was formed. Now, for centuries, the elves have taken young women from Luella's village to be their Human Queen. To be chosen is seen as a mark of death by the townsfolk. A mark nineteen-year-old Luella is grateful to have escaped as a girl. Instead, she's dedicated her life to studying herbology and becoming the town's only healer. That is, until the Elf King unexpectedly arrives... for her. Everything Luella had thought she'd known about her life, and herself, was a lie. Taken to a land filled with magic, Luella is forced to be the new queen to a cold yet blisteringly handsome Elf King. Once there, she learns about a dying world that only she can save. The magical land of Midscape pulls on one corner of her heart, her home and people tug on another... but what will truly break her is a passion she never wanted."--page two of cover.
