Thora and Santi are strangers in a foreign city when a chance encounter brings them together and intertwines their fates. Thora thinks she's finally found a kindred spirit with the same intelligence, offbeat humor, and desire to look up instead of straight ahead. But days later, Santi is cruelly taken from her in an accident. But this is just one of the many connections they share. Like two satellites trapped in orbit around each other, Thora and Santi meet again: as a nurse and dying patient; a teacher and prodigy student; a cynic and a believer. In numerous lives they become friends, colleagues, lovers, and enemies, but how and why? When ominous patterns begin to emerge and the lines between worlds blur, Thora and Santi come to a shocking revelation, they must discover the truth of their strange attachment before their many lives come to a final end.… (more)

I am typically not a huge fan of the Science Fiction genre, but I loved this book. I inhaled it in just a few hours. Thora and Santi have a chance meeting near a tower, and later Thora sees a notice that Santi has died. But yet, they keep meeting over and over and over again at various points in their lives. They are different things to one another, and they don't know why they continue to meet.
The answer is very interesting and surprising. Their interactions are sometimes argumentative, sometimes loving. I fell in love with Thora and Santi and my heart broke for them over and over again.
Terrific story! ( )

Audiobook - fantastic narrator

Thora and Santi have met before ...

Strong sci-fi feel to this novel, probably due to the repeated lives/time loop.

Reminiscent of:
The Seven and a Half Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

Some excellent parts. A bit too science fiction for me but had it’s moments. ( )

The title made me want to read this book. I'm always interested in time travel.

It's about a handful of characters that keep coming back life after life with different roles: teacher/student, brother/sister, husband/wife, father/daughter, and so forth. There's no mention of the dates for the different lives. The main characters, Thora and Santi, just happen to meet in the same city of Cologne where there's a tower clock.

For someone interested in a past life science fiction book, this may be a good choice. My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this advanced copy to be released on April 27, 2021. ( )

Thora and Santi become connected to each other through one encounter which, a few days later, ends in tragedy. But this isn’t the end, they are destined to meet again and again in different lives… until one day they work out who they are and discover the truth.

At first I was quite intrigued by this story but, sadly, I began to lose interest as it progressed. I found it difficult to connect to the characters, there’s no chemistry between them, and I found the way it was played out quite confusing. I think I was expecting more of a love story, perhaps a little like The Time Traveller’s Wife. This is quite different. It’s more about a growing awareness of who Thora and Santi are and how they deal with it.

Although I enjoy a time travel tale, I’m not a big sci fi fan. I appreciate the beautiful writing, though - it is without doubt wonderfully written and clever. This book has plenty of 5⭐️ ratings. It just isn’t really my cup of tea. ( )
