I have always enjoyed the Eve, Joe stories. I think this one was a tad dry. Although I found the last half of the book very good I found the first half sort of boring. Diane returns and with all that went on it makes you wonder where that leaves Eve and Joe. Glad to see she didn't cause too much of a rift. Weird ho Michael was able to get a "read' on Diane and feel there was something terrible and sinister going on with what she was involved in. Just glad this one had a happy kind of ending. Now to see what happens to Joe after receiving Diane's bullet to save his life. ( )

I'm listening to an advance copy audiobook. I liked Johansen's work very much when she first started writing. I decided to check in on her series when I was offered an advance look at her 27th book. The story is interesting, the narration is good, I was thinking it was a book I would recommend but then it got to the part where one character tossed a Tesla key to another. I really only know about Tesla Model 3 which does not use a key that could be casually tossed through the air. But OK, perhaps it was a different model, maybe and older one that did use a key. But then, then! the character driving the Tesla revved the engine! That is NOT the way electric cars work. They have motors not engines. They don't peel out. While this wasn't integral to the plot it threw me out of the world I had fallen into when I started it and totally destroyed my belief in the story. I had listened to 57% of the book when I gave up on it.
