Twists and turns that even a seasoned reader doesn’t foresee. “That was bloody brilliant.” -Ron Weasley I have said it before and I'll say it again, Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a literary genius. Somehow, every story that she writes sucks me in and I can't get it out of my mind, no matter what I try. This one was no different. I loved seeing the characters again and really enjoyed Avery as she handled everything thrown at her. I am still a huge fan of Xavier, but wish that more engineering was shown like the first book. Overall, I recommend this to fans of the first book. You will not be disappointed. 5 Stars *I received a copy of the book from the publisher. All thoughts are my own and a positive review was not required. Another book that I essentially finished in one sitting. The first book sets up the plot points of this one up really well, with a twist that I really did not anticipate. Kept me reading though, I’m invested in these characters, and I’m invested on where it all goes in the next book. Series Info/Source: This is second book in the Inheritance Games trilogy (there is a fourth companion novel being released in this series in Aug of 2023). I borrowed this on ebook from my library. Thoughts: I am continuing to really enjoy this series. At the end of the last book we found out a member of the Hawthorne family, formerly thought to be dead, was alive. This book continues to unravel the web of secrets and puzzles surrounding the Hawthrone family and delves into how Avery is tied to this family. Jennifer Lynn Barnes has been a bit hit or miss for me. I absolutely adored her "The Naturals" series but didn't love her "Raised by Wolves" or "The Fixer" series. I am completely in love with this series though and this book just reinforced that for me. I love the complex characters throughout this series. All the Hawthorne brothers are very well done and I continue to enjoy Avery and her friend Max. We meet new and interesting characters in this book as well. There is a bit of a love triangle going on between Avery, Grayson, and Jameson; I am not a fan of love triangles but it works well in this story. All of the puzzles and mysteries that our characters are forced to unravel are fun to follow and super engaging. There is a heavy element of psychology to some of these mysteries as well. This book was incredible engaging, hard to put down, and very readable. My Summary (5/5): Overall this book was an incredibly fun and engaging read. I love the complex characters, intriguing mysteries, and fascinating puzzles. I am incredibly excited about reading the final book in the series, "The Final Gambit" to see how everything wraps up. no reviews | add a review

The Hawthorne Legacy is filled with more twists, turns, and puzzles that Avery and the Hawthorne grandsons were set out to solve. Trying to locate Toby Hawthorne and solve why he was a piece of the puzzle. Is he Avery's father? Is he the key to why she was left the inheritance? Following all the different clues that were left for them, we learn more about the incomprehensible inheritance that Avery was now becoming in charge of. Lavish properties all over the world, all seeming to hold new clues and keys to various puzzles and games. This book was a roller-coaster and no matter how sure I am that I have solved the puzzle...I am always left surprised and humbled. Amazing book! (
