Speaking Rain is back and living with an old woman from Two Hawks’ tribe. Kaya is delighted to see her, but Speaking Rain tells Kaya that she will stay with the old woman to repay her for saving her life. Kaya comes up with a solution so that she can stay with the woman and her family- Speaking Rain stays with the family most of the year and the old woman while they gather Camas roots- a very hard time when her help is most needed. Then she fulfills her obligation but can stay with her family too. ( )
