The problem with having a creative child is that anything is fodder for further creativity. Take this collection of comics. Last fall we downloaded the game Escape Velocity Nova. The game contains a few storylines, which one can follow through to obtain fame and fortune. The storylines are interrelated, often featuring the same characters. My dear daughter followed three of these storylines and promptly sat down to create her own tale of the EV Nova universe. Like most Cathrineal literature, the cast is predominantly female and the story is chock full of in-jokes which nobody outside our family would probably get. But she's my daughter and I love her and am usually delighted with her creativities.

Sadie McAllister, a young trader of the Federation, finds herself part of an ancient Polaran prophecy, and her name changed to Ory'hara. Together with her adopted people, she must defeat the corrupted Bureau and its evil leader Commander Krane. That's pretty much like the game. But Ory'hara has an idea that deviates sharply from the game...and makes for the rest of the plot. I had fun writing and drawing it!
