A most unusual family, 12 adopted children and father . The Lancaster family. Each child is unique in their own way. Each child is groomed for one specific area of expertise. Their father rates the child on their achievements , their grades and their accomplishments. Lancaster himself is worth millions and all that money will go to his "children" when he dies, or will it?
When Lancaster dies suddenly, the children find out that father has other ideas. Each child, must eliminate the others to get the grand prize: the millions and the right to call themselves father. The mansion they live in is locked down and one by one the children go from "I love my family" to "I'm going to kill you!"
The book starts slow but the pace that keeps you reading is breakneck.
Reading the book I had the thought of the book , And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Isolated with nowhere to go the Lancasters are in the same boat. For me, the book was a winner. Yes,I am not a young adult which is what the target range of the book was supposed to be for but I enjoyed it nonetheless . The narration by Ryan Haugen just made the book better!
