About the book

Ramona's dad has to go back to school so her mom gets a babysitter for her, named Mrs. Kemp. Ramona is upset because her mom had to return to work so her dad goes to school. At age 8 little Ramona's life is turned upside down. Ramona also finds that being in the 3rd grade is harder than she thought. There is a boy by the name of Danny that teases her at school so she throws up which causes Ramona even more embarrassment. This book is about the life of a 8 year old girl like me, trying to get through stuff.

Recommendation

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars! I thought this book was funny plus had some really gross moments which made me laugh even more. I think I will read more books by this author. I have started reading Henry Huggins by Beverly Clearly and I have enjoyed that so far.

Awesome Part

My favorite part of this book was gets back at Danny when he was picking on her! ( )

The Ramona series chapter books are wonderful books to have in your classroom. It is a good for beginners who want to start reading chapter books. The stories within the books are humorous and girls as well as guys can relate to them. A lot of students get hooked on reading these books and it would be a good way to catch the interest of a non-reader or someone who is struggling with enjoying reading. These would be a great addition for an upper elementary school classroom to have out for independent reading time.

I started ready Beverly Cleary's books when I was in the First grade and read every single one I could get my hands on as fast as I could- you could say I devoured them really. Her writing was so wonderfully appropriate to my life that I thought she had written them just for me. I later enjoyed reading the story of her life: A Girl From Yamhill. In rereading these books I can see that her writing, in being so detailed and specific, is actually perfectly universal. She is and will always be one of my very favorites. ( )
