"First, her disapproving grandmother arrives determined to make Riley take her powers seriously or face the wrath of "the Guild." Then there's the homicide detective who needs her help figuring out who murdered the well-dressed corpse in the walk-in closet. Nick's got his own hands full with a tricky missing person case and his parents who want to know why he didn't tell them about his live-in girlfriend. Then there's the fact that he's still the tiniest bit stressed about Riley almost getting murdered earlier that summer. The last thing he wants is her getting involved in another investigation. Things go from bad to worse when the body count starts stacking up, the meet-the-parents dinner goes horribly wrong, and their elderly roommate is up to no good...dressed like a mime. To top it off, Riley is forced to return to Channel 50 on official police business to question her spray-tanned news anchor ex-husband and his new weather girl fiancée. The trouble comes to a head when Riley receives a warning from the killer: Back off or she's next. Someone has to solve these murders before she becomes the next corpse"--… (more)

After Nick Santiago's office burned down, he and Riley Thorn moved in together and are working out of her house where a group of quirky tenants also live. Nick's tendency toward being over-protective of Riley is worse since her brush with death, so when she is asked by Nick's former partner to consult on another murder case, he believes he must forbid her from helping, leaving Riley unhappy with his attitude. The waters get even muddier when Riley's grandmother comes for a visit to instruct her in the use of her psychic powers.

The Corpse In the Closet is a great addition to the Riley Thorn series. The romance between Nick and Riley continues to develop, and new characters are introduced that add to both the fun and the mystery in the book. There are lots of laugh out loud moments, and an abundance of clues carefully paced throughout the story to build suspense. While some of the events rely on coincidence and are over the top, the plot seems to find balance from the first page right up to the end of the narrative. Overall, The Corpse In the Closet is an entertaining romantic suspense novel well worth the read. ( )

The Corpse in the Closet is the second book in the Riley Thorn cozy mystery series by Lucy Score and it is just as entertaining as the first. The quirky and mostly loveable characters are back as well as several not quite as loveable characters including Nick’s parents and Riley’s ex-husband. The romance has heated up between Riley and Nick who are now living together and she works in his detective agency. This is a fast, fun, and often laugh-out-loud funny cozy with an interesting mystery which ends satisfactorily with hints of what to expect in the next instalment and I am so looking forward to it. A perfect read for a lazy afternoon.

Need a fun escape read? Get ready to laugh your sox off with this one! The publisher's blurb covers the basics, and there really is a plot beneath the quirky characters and the hilarity. Enjoy!
