George Washington Caucaman, a detective of Mapuche Indian origin and a quick draw of the gun, is banished to the capital of Chile for killing the son of a general. There, he begins to investigate a case of threatening calls to a sex "hot line." Two things make the case especially disquieting: the girl of the Hot Line has just recently returned to the country and the calls are linked to the Pinochet dictatorship.
