Three women who seemingly have nothing in common find that they're involved with the same man in this smart new rom-com by Beth O'Leary, bestselling author of The Flatshare. Siobhan is a quick-tempered life coach with way too much on her plate. Miranda is a tree surgeon used to being treated as just one of the guys on the job. Jane is a soft-spoken volunteer for the local charity shop with zero sense of self-worth.   These three women are strangers who have only one thing in common: they've all been stood up on the same day, the very worst day to be stood up--Valentine's Day. And, unbeknownst to them, they've all been stood up by the same man.   Once they've each forgiven him for standing them up, they are all in serious danger of falling in love with a man who may have not just one or two but three women on the go....   Is there more to him than meets the eye? Where was he on Valentine's Day? And will they each untangle the truth before they all get their hearts broken?… (more)

2022 pandemic read. I liked the way the arcs of the stories moved. ( )

The No-Show: This book has quite a few surprises. It appears Joseph Carter is a scoundrel who is juggling three different women, managing to stand them up on Valentine's Day. As you start the book you will be supportive of these ladies outing him and possibly getting a bit of revenge. Word of warning, don't make assumptions as this is not a cookie cutter romance template.

This is not a story about a man cheating on his girlfriends. There is a back story to each of the relationships which the author deftly weaves to a surprising conclusion.

There is heartbreak but I assure you, it won't be a scenario you're expecting. Somehow Beth O'Leary writes a light hearted story while interjecting real life hardships and situations.

There is more than one emotionally significant event to experience here. ( )

A slow starter but stick with it, definitely worth it. Keeps you guessing right to the end. ( )

So clever!!!! Beth O'Leary has woven together a story of 3 women who are all stood up by Joseph Carter on Valentine's Day. There is Siobhan who is a life coach and has everything in her life planned out carefully. She isn't sure that she wants a relationship with Joseph, but does enjoy her time with him. Then there is Miranda, a tree specialist who is dating the very handsome Joseph, but is also intrigued by her co-worker AJ. Finally, there is Jane, a quiet book lover that works in a thrift shop but has a secret past.
As the story unfolds, you wonder how Joseph is dating all three of them, and who he really loves. All comes clear at the end, and that is due to the genius weaving of the story by O'Leary. ( )

This is such a smart book with great twists and emotional highs and lows. It is the story of three very different women, Siobhan, Miranda, and Jane, who are all involved with the same man, Joseph. I admit that I changed my attitude towards Joseph several times in the course of the book, all due to Ms. O'Leary's terrific writing. At times I hated him and at others, I grieved for him.
This book is not really chick lit nor a romance, but a bit of both as well as being such a great story. Be prepared to binge this book; there's no putting it down once you're immersed in the story. It's one of those books that will stay with you for a long time. ( )
