This is the second book in The Selection series and I have to say - I really enjoyed it. The Elite, like The Selection, is a fun, light read. Some of the things that happened were a little....convenient. But it was still very enjoyable. I do have to point out that after the first book, I just wasn't very sure about Aspen. The character hadn't been fleshed out very much and seemed to just be there to cause America a little inner turmoil over her decisions. However, after reading this book, I have determined that Aspen is, indeed, a turd. "Oh, your bestie just got beaten pretty badly, stripped of her caste, and sentenced to a life of struggle and hardship worse than anything you've ever even contemplated before because she had the nerve to be sneaking around behind the prince's back during the competition? By all means, have secret rendezvous with me as often as possible!" So much for the guy who is supposed to be all about protecting America. Maxon may not be perfect, but I think the choice should be clear here. Whether or not that choice is completely clear to America remains to be seen. But it might not, after all, be up to her in the end! I guess we'll see in The One. :) ( )

Trashy dystopian romance with some social justice thrown in for good measure. The same as the first part - it's bad, but it makes you keep reading. This part is a tiny bit more boring than the first. ( )

I think I liked this one better than the first, the Selection. It was less predictable. Now on to the next one, the suspense is killing me! ( )

The Angeles air was quiet, and for a while I laid still, listening to the sound of Maxon breathing.
