Best Dad in the Sea by Amy J. Tyler
Summary:
Nemo and Marlin love each other, but Nemo swims away from his dad. Nemo is then caught by a diver and put into a fish tank. Marlin asked Dory, his friend, to help him find Nemo, Marlin is brave when searching for Nemo. Nemo learns his dad is on his way, but escapes before he arrives. After Dory and Nemo escape a net Marlin and Nemo says the other is brave and they discover they are not so different after all.

Reaction:
I believe this book teaches that if you do not listen to your parents then eventually you will get in trouble, and that your parents will do anything to keep you safe. This book reminded me of when I was little and I did something my parents told me not to do, although they were mad I could tell they still cared. The character of Marlin loves, and cares for Nemo although Nemo doesn't listen. Nemo is a character that at first doesn't respect Marlin's wishes but grows into a character that is more careful and respectful.

Extension Ideas:
1.The teacher could use this book to teach about the love of parents.
2.This book can be used to teach the consequences of not listening.
3.It can be used to teach kids to respect their parents as well as other
adults.

Picturebook, very good illastrations. Great for preschool and 1st grade. Exciting and dramatic little story. I liked how the pictures told the story. A soft, easy tale of love mixed with a little danger. Might be a good lesson on perseverance or how we are all different yet alot alike. ( )

Nemo is very brave and his dad is the opposite, but when Nemo gets caught, his dad finds his bravery. This book follows the basic outline of the movie. ( )
