Plenty of action along the road to Alaska, this mystery is a fun, light read. Alaskan musher, Jessie Arnold takes a short job driving a new Winnebago from Coeur d' Alene to Alaska and discovers adventures along the way. If you've ever driven the route, you'll identify with parts of the story; a body found floating in Laird Hot Springs, for example. In addition to the bad guys, there's Maxie and Stretch--a 60 something and her dachshund that make up the cast. Where's book #9? ( )

Book 8 finds Alaskan musher Jessie Arnold waiting for spring and breakup so the contractor can pour the basement for her new cabin. As a favor to her contractor, Jessie agrees to fly down to Coeure d'Elene, ID and drive his new motor home up the Alaska Highway. Meanwhile, in Cody, WY a teenaged boy, Patrick Cutler, sees his stepfather kill his mother and flees. His intention is to reach Fairbanks, AK to find a friend, hide and start life over again. Also, on the road is Maxine "Maxie" McNabb, a 60 something woman of spirit and adventuresome heart (who later goes on to star in her own series line by the same author). The is plenty of suspense, along with descriptions of the breathtaking scenery and history of the Alaska Highway. ( )
