Christmas has been Maddie's favorite holiday since she adopted her four girls from foster homes. Even though they all have lives and families of their own, Christmas remained her special day with several family rituals. When her male friend, Robert, suggests a romantic holiday in December, he promises that she will be home by Christmas Eve . Maddie imagined that they were going to a beautiful resort where she could be pampered and get relieved of her stress. When they arrive in Costa Rica after hours of flights, she finds that Robert has booked them in an eco-friendly resort where there is no electricity and no WIFI.
She makes it pretty clear to him that this wasn't what she wanted or needed and things got a little rocky until they reached a compromise. When the return home flights get cancelled, she is sad that she won't be home for Christmas. Will she able to maintain her Christmas magic?.

Maddie has always been a strong mother. She decided to adopt one girl and ended up with four. She managed to instill love into their household and is happy with the lives that all of her girls have achieved. Will she be able to maintain their Christmas magic after this trip? ( )

Christmas Peace by Violet Howe
From the Soul Sisters at Cedar Mountain Lodge series, second year, book 9. Can be read as a stand-alone clean, older couple romance.
Maddie and Robert take a trip to the Costa Rica rainforest the week before Christmas to celebrate their one year anniversary.

Maddie says no to every adventure (flying on a small plane, skinny dipping in a private pool…) at first then makes a conscious decision to move forward with whatever it is. Even the possibility of seeing a snake.
Robert has so much patience with Maddie. “What can I do to help” is his typical question. He’s so sweet and thoughtful. And she realizes that, at least somewhat.
“How had he sensed the internal struggle she’d been fighting? The need for more in her life than just work and responsibilities. The longing for excitement.”

Their destination for the week is green (environmentally) and in the middle of the rainforest. That means no electric, no internet, no cell service.
No electric for a week? I could give up my phone and internet, but not air-conditioning or my iPad and 1000’s of books. Guess I’m not going green or to the rainforest anytime soon.

Sweet, loving and peaceful. Especially if you read the first group last year and already met the family. ( )
