En octobre 1967, Paul Mus, professeur au collède de France et à l'université Yale, auteur justement célèbre de "Vietnam, sociologie d'une guerre", me téléphonait pour m'avertir qu'il écrivait, sur la courte biographie que j'avais consacrée à Hô Chi Minh quelques mois plus tôt, un article qui comptait déjà plus de 200 pages... Nous convenions aussitôt que cet "article" serait publié par les éditions du Seuil, auxquelles Paul Mus avait déjà confié toute son oeuvre.
