Nice picture book but not consistent as an alphabet book to leach the letters and theirs sounds. Switches between long and short vowel sounds which can be confusing to young children learning the letters and corresponding sounds. ( )

"Eric Carle's, ABC's" by Eric Carle is an alphabet picture book. In this book, Eric Carle takes the reader on a journey through the alphabet. With each letter is an example of words that use that letter. I would recommend this book for no one older than kindergarten. This book is an extremely easy read that can help children develop their ABC's. I would absolutely use this book in my classroom. ( )

It only has sixteen pages, but each of those pages can be unfolded to reveal full-page flaps that contain images of Carleā€™s beloved animals. I could use in the classroom with my K/1 ELL students for our Ecology units where we use animals to practice language objectives.

Summary:
This story is about the ABC'S. Each letter represents a animal on it. For example A is for Ant and B for bird. It ends with all the alphabets showing.

Personal reaction:
I enjoy reading Eric Carle books his unique style is fun for the kids to enjoy reading. I think this book is perfect for young readers to learn Alphabets and words fro animals too.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1.In the classroom we could have each child make their own Eric Carle style ABC book.
2.We can also act out the animals on each page as we read the story. ( )

This book, much like many other alphabet books, is great for very young children to absorb the pictures and attach those things to the letters they are learning. This helps them with memorization, and provides them with a fun learning experience!
