De no haber leído con anterioridad "Una Casa para Siempre", esta novela me habría parecido absurda y endeble: el narrador, el escritor Pasavento, pretende "desaparecer", como sus héroes literarios, pero sin desaparecer realmente. Quiere ser reconocido universalmente como un símbolo o ideal de desaparición y de oscura fama, y esta ambición contradictoria (cómo puede alguien desear ser reconocido y desear pasar desapercibido al mismo tiempo?) está al centro de su dilema, y de esta novela. Pero el doctor/escritor Pasavento no se da cuenta de la contradicción, y cuando lo hace le resta importancia. La clave para disfrutar la novela, entonces, consiste en analizar las piruetas mentales y los esquivos del narrador, quien pareciera estar jugando un juego secreto de 'atrapen al autor', pero quien jamás lo aceptaría. Aún así, "Doctor Pasavento" resulta insular e innecesariamente obtusa. ( )
