Every day I clean the Winchesters' beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor. I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew's handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it's hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina's life. I only try on one of Nina's pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it's like. But soon she finds out - and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it's far too late. But I reassure myself that the Winchesters don't know who I really am. And they don't know what I'm capable of.… (more)

This is seriously one of the best books I have ever read! It usually takes me about a week to finish books this length but I could not put this one down and finished it 3 days early!! Words cannot fully describe how much I loved this. ( )

I was worried this wouldn't live up to the hype, but I really enjoyed it and it really is a fast read. I read it in 3 days. I couldn't put it down and barely even realized I was reading. I didn't feel like the twists were as crazy as everyone was saying, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was convinced that the husband and wife were in on it. I had a feeling from the beginning that something wasn't right with the husband. But I absolutely loved the ending where Nina just knew that Millie would take care of Andrew...and the fact that you read that he pulls out four of his teeth while locked in the attic. Just so good...really enjoyed the ending. Felt like great women power at the end!! Including his crazy mom! Great read and excited to read the second book! ( )

First of all, it's On Long Island, not In Long Island.

This was not as propulsive as the other two books I've read from this author, and it felt a tad bit too long. The mystery was fine. The characters were fine. Just and all-around OK book. ( )

This was my first Kindle Unlimited read on my new Kindle Paperwhite. It reminded me of another psychological book I read, where it started going down the predictable route and completely flipped its lid. While it is a compelling and gripping narrative, it doesn’t go any deeper than that. The dialogue is bland, and the narration is a bit cliche. It offers nothing new, but I guess it served its purpose in providing a thrill. ( )
