Fun series of interconnected stories about a friend group trying to help one of their friends win back her girlfriend, all while a snowstorm brings Atlanta to a halt. ( )

A Snowstorm, Atlanta shut down, a group of devoted friends helping one of their own win back their one and only and a mix of love stories? Yes Please! From some of the OG writers of Blackout, comes Whiteout. I really enjoyed this book and the way the authors connected all the stories. Who wrote which story? Couldn’t tel you. Best part of the book is the quick afterward from the Editor, providing some riddles to the reader, to help them try to figure out which author wrote what story. I couldn’t figure it out! I can definitely see this one as a mini-series, just as Blackout is about to become. Only thing that held me back from 5 stars was there were a LOT of couples and it felt like a fast and furious story, where some of the storylines ended too quickly for me. And trying to figure out who was related to whom about blew my mind. The story of Stevie and her mom was never resolved either…otherwise, a fun romp in the snow. ( )

Stevie and Sola have been together for years, but Stevie messed up big-time and they might be broken up for good; Sola has issued an ultimatum, and Stevie frantically tries to move her romantic Christmas plan up to a new deadline with the help of her friends - who have their own things going on, but who are rooting for Stevie and Sola.

Delightful - just as good as Blackout.

Quote

Nothing like this has ever happened to me, to us, so I had no idea I could get this angry. That I could be this hurt. (Sola, 121)

"Wait. Are you saying you weren't discovered?"
"Nah, that happened. Even though I hate when people say that. It's like, I been existing. You the only one just finding out. Shit reminds me of colonialism." (Jimi and Teo, 208)

"My granny always says, 'Everybody wants the culture, bit nobody wants the color.'" (210)

"I could be wrong...but maybe we're afraid of the same thing....We're both afraid we won't get what we want, so you never let go of control the same way I rarely take it." (Teo, 222) ( )
