Fantasy *Review for the first 4 in the series* So far so good; I didn't like the juxtaposition between the cartoony Bones and the people, but it grew on me. Phoney Bone is the worst, until you see flashes of a decent guy (like when he is one of the first to run out after Fone Bone), and then Smiley is the wprst, until you realize he's just an idiot. I love the rat creatures, even if I can't tell if we're supposed to be following the same pair or not. Fone Bone, Thorn and Grandma Ben come under attack from the rat creatures, including their leader, the huge Kingdok. The lovely Thorn continues to suffer from nightmares about her youth and true identity. Back in Barrelhaven, Phoney Bone pretends he is a Dragonslayer to take advantage of simple townspeople and to make himself wealthy. Finally, Fone Bone and Smiley discover an abandoned baby rat creature cub, and decide to return him. I was disappointed by this book, which I expect is a bridge to the next set of adventures involving the Hooded One's attack on the Valley. no reviews | add a review
