Cold Light of Day by Elizabeth Goddard was gifted to me via The Library Thing in exchange for my honest review. This is a good way to spend a few hours. It takes place in Alaska the descriptions of places and scenery are enchanting. A small town cop that's taken overthe job of Cheif for her injured father finds herself up against a town council that wants her gone. Meanwhile bodies keep piling up around her. She is seeking an unknown killer before more murders take place. It's a hard enough job until a handsome stranger shows up in town and distracts her. Is he dangerous? Is he following her? And if so why? This small town lady cop is uncovering secrets that are wilder than the Alaskan frontier and chasinga killer as cold as the glacial ice. This suspense kept me glued to each page with its realist characters, detailed descriptions of the beautiful landscape, and an avalanche of intrigue. There was even a little romance in this seemingly cold and desolate place to keep me reading, snug and warm under my blankie until the very last surprising page! Like I said, it's a great way to spend a few hours. I recommend. Thank you, The Library Thing and author E. Goddard for this gratis ebook. MMC ( )

Autumn Long is the police chief of Shadow Gap, Alaska. Normally a quiet little town, Shadow Gap is experiencing a spurt of criminal activity that leaves her shorthanded. She enlists the aide of a newcomer to the area, Grier Brenner, to help her solve the crimes and maintain peace in the town. Unknown to her, Grier has his own set of problems, which could endanger her – and the town.
Cold Light of Day is the first in a new series, Missing in Alaska, by Elizabeth Goddard. The plot moves fast, the characters are well developed, and the setting --- well it is Alaska (what more do I need to say??)
I enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the series. I received this book through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program.

I really liked this one. It had adventure, mystery, and a good amount of romance. I loved the setting of a small remote town in the Alaska wilderness. It actually sounds like a really nice place to live (ok other than the crime spree!) But honestly I'd love to live somewhere like this. The mystery of it all was intriguing and I look forward to reading the next one in the series. ( )

Cold Light of Day by Elizabeth Goddard is the first in a series Missing In Alaska #1. The story takes place in Alaska and features Police Chief Autumn Long, who is the police chief after her father was injured on the job. There are a couple people on the city council that want her gone from the position. So there is some animosity within the department.

Autumn is finding out how hard the job is when a rash of criminal activities leaves her with an injured officer among other things. She is worried about her father as he tends to drink a bit more than he should. He is upset because he had to retire and misses his dead wife. When Autumn's mother drowned while they were on vacation in the Caribbean, she finds herself carrying around guilt. Lots of what if's. After the death of her mother, her father moves them, Autumn and her brother Nolan who is an Alaskan State Trooper.

Grier Brenner, a man of many talents and offers them to Autumn to try to solve a series of murders. He is in Alaska as he is trying to disappear and whenever Autumn asks him about his past he is very elusive.

Stakes get higher and it is up to Autumn to try to solve the murders that are happening, more bodies are found and now a stranger is in town, no one knows who he is but Autumn thinks that he is following her. What could the reason be?

The story is descriptive in that it describes the Alaskan frontier, and life in the relatively small town, as the story goes on the reader learns more about Autumn, Grier, and the people that are after them both. To describe more would be a spoiler alert.

I enjoyed the story, the pace, and the plot were important to make the story a success, personal relationships were very well developed and then there is the romantic side of the story. I would like very much to read more in this series. I give it 5 stars!

I received a copy of the book for review purposes only. ( )
