This is a very acceptable volume of 'bits and pieces' about M.R.James and his work. However what makes it rather more of an important addition to anyone's Ghostly Library is this - that it contains,hidden away in the middle of some fairly ordinary stuff,two short stories,which to my knowledge,do not appear in any other easily found volume of James work.These are "The Experiment" and "A Vignette",and these stories alone are worth searching this book out for.
So as to some of the other contents,we have "The Haunted World of M.R.James" by Peter Haining,"Some Remarks on Ghost Stories" by James,"A Tribute to James" by Christopher Lee and so on.
The book is well illustrated with both drawings and photographs.
The final rating however is firmly based on the aforementioned short stories. ( )
