I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kenneth Branagh who is excellent (he is also starring as Poirot in the upcoming movie adaptation). There were a lot of characters in this one, which means there are lots of possible suspects but also makes it harder to keep track of everyone. I liked how the mystery unfolded and how the reader gets to follow Poirot's train of thought as he figures out the case. I can see why this is considered one of Christie's best. ( ![]() Very similar to TV episode, that combined a couple of the characters and changed one bit of the story. Other than that the TV script is very close to the novel. Really enjoyed reading it and will read more from the facsimile collection that I have A classic closed-room style mystery. There were a lot of clues here that Poirot magically knew at the right times. Christie gets flack for not playing fair and letting the reader try to solve the crime and this is one case where it is true. 3,5 I wanted to read this Agatha Christie, Hercule Poirot because of my recent trip to Egypt. It’s about the murder of a rich heiress on a steamer as it sails from Aswan to visit the monuments at Abu Simbel and Philae. The story reinforced for me how much I dislike these Agatha Chrisite mysteries. There are so many modern day mystery writers who are much better at character and plot development.

Linnet Doyle is young, beautiful, and rich. She's the girl who has everything-including the man her best friend loves. Linnet and her new husband take a cruise on the Nile, where they meet the brilliant detective Hercule Poirot. It should be an idyllic trip, yet Poirot has a vague, uneasy feeling that something is dangerously amiss. No library descriptions found. |
