More of an amuse-bouche than a novel, Flush is an unsurprisingly delightful read. ( )

Not as good as I had been led to believe, and perhaps overlong, this nevertheless looks at the life and times of Elizabeth Barrett Browning through the perspective of her dog, Flush. Some bits are fantastic, others are boring, but certainly I admire and understand Barrett far more now for reading this! It is also nice to see that there were people in the 1940s and indeed 1840s who understood that dogs have emotions! ( )

The whimsical biography of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's dog this story lopes along between Victorian life and a dogs impressions of Victorian life as interpreted by Virginia Wolff who would have had a pretty good idea of what that area of London might have been a few decades before her birth. ( )

This is one of Virginia Woolf's oddest novels I thought. It reminded me very much of her earlier book Orlando. Same writing style and same chapter set-up. The book also reminded me of a dog version of Black Beauty as well. Overall, if you like dog stories this book is for you. ( )

Un clasico de la literatura espanola que es recomendable para cualquier usuario. Existen varias adaptaciones y se puede apreciar un notable uso del Castellano Antiguo ( )

It is universally admitted that the family from which the subject of this memoir claims descent is one of the greatest antiquity.
Quotations
He saw - the most astonishing sight conceivable There was Miss Barrett on a
rock in the midst of rushing water. Trees bent over her; the river raced
round her. ... Flush splashed through the stream and reached her. "He is
baptized in Petrarch's name", said Miss Barrett as he clambered up on to the
rock by her side. For they were at Vaucluse; she had perched herself upon a
stone in the middle of Petrarch's fountain.
