This was a rather quick read for my Holocaust literature course. The interesting thing about this particular book is that it doesn't have any of the turmoil or pain that is often associated with the Holocaust. This book is about how someone survived it pretty unscathed, which actually makes for a pretty interesting contrast when read against many other books of the time period.

I would recommend this book to individuals that are having to read several other books that pertain to this particular era. I wouldn't suggest it however for those wanting to only read one book about the holocaust I would instead push them towards Primo Levi's "Survival in Auschwitz" because that is more showcasing of the reality for many Jewish individuals during the time period. This book though is a good contrast when examining all of these texts and I appreciated it for that reason. ( )
