Another richly imagined and thoroughly researched novel from Karen Brooks.
The Escapades of Tribulation Johnson will immerse you deep into Restoration London and the intrigue, not only of the acting and writing world, but the dastardly political plots of the time. Tribulation and her friends highlight the struggles of women in those times to be seen and heard - with some things seeming not to have changed. The depth of the author's research shows in the way the weaving of real people and events with fictional elements is seamless. Brooks is one of my favourite authors, and I look out for her new works with excitement. ( )

Enjoyed this book. On a par with The Good Wife of Bath.
A good insight into London theatre in the mid 17th century ( )
