I haven't finished reading... but the author seems to put the burden primarily on the wives' shoulders. Really, a man SHOULD keep up his end to earn his partner's respect. ( )

I got this book at the recommendation of a marriage retreat leader a few years ago. His major emphasis was on the God-designed differences between men and women. This whole book is extremely well developed, well written and well researched with plenty of Bible to back it up. If you are wondering what the miracle verse is, try Ephesians 5:33. ( )

Please do not read this book. Please do not support this author and the potential abuse he brings into Christian marriages. This book is especially damaging to women who are eager to please from low self-esteem and/or have had a background of abuse. This is NOT a Christian book, and it should NOT be used in church settings.

This is an excellent article summarizing the many problematic things Eggerichs states in his book:

Best marriage book I've read! I understand so much more now my reactions to his behavior, as well as his way of thinking. Super helpful, highly recommend! ( )
