The first reason I thought this was a good book is because of the author’s writing. Each page has a different phrase in huge blue font telling the main idea of that part of the book. For example, one page reads, “We have fun traditions.” in large font, and the page discusses some traditions that Americans partake in on Independence Day, with pictures that exemplify such traditions. The writing is also engaging and encourages the reader to be excited for this holiday. The second reason I liked this book is because of the photos that are all extremely representative of the holiday as well as genuine. The plethora of pictures are all strategically placed, some in the top right corner, some in the bottom left, some in the middle of the page, and a few blown up to fit the entire page with print written overtop. These pictures include people of all ages and people of various ethnicities, all with genuine expressions, whether they are happy, excited, or serious, celebrating Independence Day. I especially liked that the photos included a wide variety of ethnicities because it is a great representation of America: full of diversity. The big idea of this book is to inform readers of how Americans celebrate Independence Day and honor their country through timeless traditions. ( ) no reviews | add a review
