The Stud: Jordan Townsende
The Babe: Alexandra Lawrence
The Verdict: *****

Bestselling author Judith McNaught masterfully portrays a remarkable heroine, and an unforgettable passion, in this powerfully moving love story — one of her most beloved novels of all time!

The tempestuous marriage of Alexandra Lawrence, an innocent country girl, and Jordan Townsende, the rich and powerful Duke of Hawthorne, is about to face its ultimate test of tender loyalty. Swept into the endlessly fascinating world of London society, free-spirited Alexandra becomes ensnared in a tangled web of jealousy and revenge, stormy pride and overwhelming passion. But behind her husband's cold, arrogant mask, there lives a tender, vital, sensual man...the man Alexandra married. Now, she will fight for his very life...and the rapturous bond they alone can share.

So this is Jordan and Alexandra's book, a book that made me laugh, cry and fume all the way through the story.

We first meet Jordan when he's getting his freak on with the wife of the guy who's sleeping with his Mother. Our first impression of Jordan is that he's a young cynical aristocrat who can still make me purr because he's just so flippin' hot.

Then the first time we meet our heroine, she's reading the historical version of US Weekly, while she daydreams of being apart of the ton...she comes right back down to reality when she goes off to play in the dirt with her friend, Mary Ellen and her brothers for someone's birthday at ME's house...on her way home, she comes upon our hero, Jordan, who is getting robbed and like the tomboy that Alex is, she rushes off to rescue, Jordan. While Alex is playing Captain Save a Ho to Jordan, she's knocked on her ass and Jordan takes her to an Inn, where he tends to her needs and because he thinks she's a boy, he doesn't think a blink about staying in the room with her....thus ruining her reputation and making her Mom demand that Jordan do right by Alex and marry her and make her, his....Duchess.

Lots of crap goes down in this book that had me, "Oh damning" all over the place. Jordan disappears, Alex gets taken for a ride, Jordan reappears but not before Alex finds out what a reprehensible toad he is and his punk ass plans that he had for her after they were married and the misunderstandings flood up the book and then the happy ending comes forth.

This book was the first romance book that I've ever read. It was the book that started my journey through romance novels. I have a soft spot for this book in my heart because this book was just that good. Jordan was a flippin' great hero, Alex was a great heroine and that ending rocks my socks right off of my feet. I enjoyed the secondary characters and Mrs. McNaught had me guessing right up to the very end on just who the villain was in this book.

I'm telling you, this book is all that and a bag of chips.

5 Stars all the way. ( )
