Though I have tried none, many of the recipes sound palatable. It is a collection of recipes from America throughout it's history. It also tells of some of the limitations cooks had and how cooking and ingredients have evolved over time. Written in the 60's, it has no modern recipes in it and that is interesting to read what the authors consider "modern." no reviews | add a review

These recipes represent a diverse culinary tradition that you can explore in this manual. From the New England shores to the Southwest deserts, from the bayous of the South to the Northwest mountains, and from the Midwest plains to the rich Californian valleys, the volume takes the reader on a culinary tour of America.
