I'm not going to rate this because, quite frankly, the writing was so terrible, the characters so boring, and the storyline so slow, that I literally could not get past the first 50 pages.

Masterton is capable of decent writing. His Katie Maguire series alone shows that. But my God, the man can toss out some shit.

And brother, this is some shit.

Creepy, gruesome, and a fantastic read for horror fans!! This is book one in a series but stands alone as well. ( )

When a body is found on a California beach by three strangers, they find that it has been overtaken by several eel-like creatures and that there is an evil force at work near them. Under the guidance of a mysterious benefactor, they find that they are all descendants of the Night Warriors, a group of special humans who can enter people's dreams and protect them from the dark beasts that would attempt to use them for their own ends.

I absolutely loved this book! Masterton creates an amazing plot with great characters that the reader will care about immediately. One of my favorite works of his, and definitely a keeper. ( )

As always Graham Masterton is one of my favourite horror writers. This is # 1 of the Night Warriors series. I thought the Manitou series was better and am not really sure if I will continue with this series.

Back Cover Blurb:
In California, a woman's dead body gives life to unutterably foul offspring. She has become the first mother of the Nightspawn. She will not be the last. The Nightspawn will cover the Earth. Unless three ordinary people can tap the powers within them.
Unless they can learn to be Night Warriors, pursuing unstoppable evil through the nightmares of the cruel and the sweet sleep of the most innocent. The battle for humankind must be fought in dreams. ( )

Book description
Henry was the first to reach the body, while Gil and Susan walked cautiously closer, and then stood watching. It was the body of a beautiful young girl, naked, like a peacefully sleeping mermaid. never in their most traumatic nightmares could they have imagined the convulsive violence which followed... Then each is visited by a mysteriously androgynous figure who reveals that the girl had been used as innocent host to the most hideous malevolence known to man, a horrific presence that, through grotesque acts of impregnation, is madly insinuating itself into the bodies and minds of thousands of unsuspecting people. The only hope is to destroy the original evil seed and together, Henry, Gil and Susan become NIGHT WARRIORS, an ancient Order of men and women charged with the power to enter and search for the abomination in a fantastic dream world of soaring exhilaration and searing terror, driven by the inescapable reality that if they fail to find the beast, then the beat will certainly find them...
