I can only say as always, great story, great writing. You can't go wrong with Joe R Lansale. ( ) Much of the action in this book takes place in a town with some of the most racist people we'd never meet. Practically the whole town is very racist to the point of beating and killing blacks without any hesitation. Add to this Leonard's outspoken provocations, and you have a sure recipe for disaster. The most amazing thing about this book is how much humor is mixed in with this serious subject. If not for the humor, though, I think it might have been too painful to read. Once again, a very well done audiobook. The accents used by the narrators add to the very colorful language used by the characters to make a very entertaining experience. I look forward to reading more. I believe I might have the honor of being the only living human being on this planet that doesn't get the sense of humor in these books. This is my second try and I just don't see anything comical or entertaining about this couple. Since I'm sure I am in the minority, I will leave Hap and Leonard to those that are members of their fan club and go on to something else. Very dark installment in the Hap and Leonard series. Our heroes confront evil in many forms, learning that things, and people, are not always as they first appear. What looks like a golden opportunity for the guys to give racism a beat-down turns out to be much more difficult that they expected. They are faced with their own limitations and realize that they just can’t stomp any problem they encounter into submission. My favorite of the series so far but it was a bitter and gut-wrenching ride. no reviews | add a review
