I enjoyed this text for the many available features the author makes available to readers. The book includes how to pronounce some of the types of dinosaurs and other difficult words such as geologists which they provided the pronunciation (jee-OL-uh-jists). The book also included several images that helped show what the fossils look like and what the different types of dinosaurs looked like. Overall, this book is a great choice for helping children learn about dinosaurs and how they are studied and will be a huge hit among students in the classroom with a love for dinosaurs. Colorful and realistic pictures. Describes the steps paleontologists take to discover dinosaurs, fun facts about dinosaurs discovered and yet to be discovered. Broken into short, easy to read chapters. Dinosaurs are not my favorite subject, and apparently it is not my son's either, as he didn't really care for the book, but a dinosaur-crazed kid would love it. I did like the format though, and would like to find other books from this series. The main idea behind this book was to inform children about dinosaurs and how fossils are made and found. Quickly reread this just now, as i'm cataloging the box of childhood books I retrieved from my parents' house. I'm glad this includes Mary Ann Mantell finding the Iguanadon tooth! Just one of many signs I never outgrew my dinosaur phase. Generally, a good book (describes the phases of how you find dinosaur bones and the team you need, the *ahem* arms race to find taller sauropods, etc.) ( )
