This book introduces young readers to Valentine's Day, its common customs, and some possible origins of the holiday. All of this is told in a very basic format so that it is easy for children to read and understand. The text is accompanied by staged photographs that highlight relevant facts. The book ends with a glossary, index, bibliography, and webliography, so that children can fully access the factual content in this book as well as glean sources for further information. All in all, this is a good introductory text for their youngest readers who want to learn something about Valentine's Day when they see all the retailers start to set up shop for the holiday. ( )

Summary: This book takes you on a very brief journey of Valentines day. It tells of what many different people do on that special day, and discuss its possible orgins.
Personal Reaction:
I thought it was a great way to show the kids a little about Valentines Day without having to go too far in depth. it was great to see the holiday simplified and shown in a giving love and thanks manner.
Classroom Extension:
Have the children make their own
Valentines to give out to their friends. have them use some of the ideas from the book IE...hearts, red, pink , and white.0
