Well written but disappointing. This book is melancholy and downbeat. There's some gratuitious May/December sex and an unsatisfying attempt to be pc that doesn't seem to fit. You really do kind of like the main character but his kids seem to be losers in a kind of human and real way. The main character doesn't really seem to have much connection to his kids, and I didn't see those relationships working themselves out very well. In fact it seemed like all of the characters used each other in various and unhealthy ways. That's what made this an unsatisfying read. ( )
