This is actually a transcript of the narration of a video of the same name. David Barton documents and uncovers lost history of those ripped from Africa and their struggles throughout America's history for equality and basic civil rights.

The men on the cover were the first elected Representatives and Senators (state and federal) during Reconstruction. Mr. Barton also include Revolutionary War heroes and post-Reconstruction rise of the Klan and similar organizations. Probably to the chagrin of Democrats, the title denote the political history and how, up until the 1950s, the Republicans were proponents of civil rights. To get an idea of what this book is about, you can see part of the video this is transcribed from.
