Even more adorable than the original. Audiobook read by Dame Edna. ( )

Olivia can always bring a smile to a reader's face. She has the best way of telling a story. And they are usually “pretty true”. This time she is out to save the circus. She flies on the trapeze, tames lions, and even puts on a dog show. I love the illustrations. Olivia books are usually black, red, and white, but this one changes to a salmon pink when she is talking about the circus. I wonder if that is Ian’s way of saying the story is “pretty true” but not fully true? ( )

"Olivia Saves the Circus" is about a pig, who tells her class, the story of how she became a performer in the Circus. This story is great at showing the power of imagination, and creativity in children's' brains. This story can be read to kindergartners, as there are at most, two-four short sentences on each page. For an writing assignment, this book would be great at inspiring students to write their own make believe adventures (and showcase their developing writing skills). ( )
