Work InformationBeetle Bop by Denise Fleming
![]() None No current Talk conversations about this book. 00010668 Beetle Bop is a precious book about many different types of beetles. The author, Denise Fleming, uses rhymes to emphasize her description of each different type of beetle, using descriptions such as "Big beetles, small beetles, crawl-up-the-wall beetles". My favorite aspect of this book is the artwork and illustrations. The colors take on an Earthy tone that almost compliments the beetles as Earthy creatures themselves. There really seems to be no real theme of this book because it is simply a rhyming picture book that informs young readers about the different types of beetles, their colors, and their actions. I would use this book to teach rhyme schemes, vocabulary, or even the suffix -ing, . There is no physical plot in this book, so this read is perfect for young readers who are learning how to extend their vocabulary, or effectively use -ing as a suffix. This fun and bright colored story "Beetle Bop" is all about beetles. This is a great informational book about life as a beetle, students will learn where they live, there size, and the different types of beetles. This is a good book to capture both boys and girls with the colorful pictures and cool print. This is a really cute book to learn about beetles. I like how the author makes it inviting for children to want to learn about beetles but not know they are. This is such a colorful book and with every turn of a page their is something different to learn. In the classroom, students can create their own beetle with watercolor to make it look like the beetles in the story. They can also come up with a story about the life of their beetle. This would be a good book to read in science, because the students can do a report on one of the beetles they learn about in the story. They crawl up walls, they hide in cracks, they flip, they fly, and sometimes . . . crrrash. Beetles come in all shapes and sizes, and they are everywhere in this thoroughly buggy book -- striped beetles, spotted beetles, all-over-dotted beetles--and don't forget the noisily gnawing beetles! no reviews | add a review
